The Australian Government is continuing to deliver on its election commitment to fund infrastructure upgrades across Australia, today announcing the approval of an important community development project in the electorate of Lingiari.
Country Liberals Senator for the northern Territory Nigel Scullion today announced the Australian Government has approved funding of $150,000 to Alice Springs Town Council for the TIO Traeger Park Alice Springs Spectator Amenity Upgrade.
“The Australian Government is committed to projects that have a longer term positive impact on the social and economic infrastructure of communities,” Senator Scullion said.
“The project will extend the existing viewing balcony adjacent to the corporate lounge and provide additional seating to cater for additional spectators.
“An all-ability access to the Stadium will also be built to ensure all members of the community can enjoy the facility.
“The extension will provide opportunities for the venue to be used for corporate and social functions and other community uses.
“It will be a great boost to the Alice Springs Community with 10 full time positions expected to be created during construction.
“Altogether, the Government is providing $313.9 million toward community projects across Australia,” Senator Scullion said.
The Community Development Grants Programme is administered by the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
