The Australian Government has recently announced funding for priority projects on the Victoria Highway under the National Highway Upgrade Programme.
Country Liberals Senator for Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion, said the Australian Government would provide $20 million, with the Northern Territory Government to contribute all further funding required to complete upgrades on the Victoria Highway, to support the Territory and national freight task.
“The priority works will involve construction of new, higher level bridges on the Victoria Highway to improve flood immunity at the Little Horse and Big Horse creek crossings,” Senator Scullion said.
“This is another example of the Australian and Northern Territory governments working together to build productive infrastructure for the local community.
“The announcement is good news for the thousands of motorists on the Victoria Highway every day.”
Construction on the Victoria Highway flood immunity projects is expected to commence in 2015–16.
