Katherine Gorge features in the latest instalment of Tourism Australia’s There’s Nothing Like Australia marketing campaign to attract more international tourists to our shores.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for tourism operators in the Katherine region and wider tourism industry to get involved in the campaign to encourage more international tourists to visit the Northern Territory,” Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion, said.
“Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk National Park) is run by the traditional owners, the Jawoyn and Dagomen people, and their culture and the natural beauty of Katherine Gorge is shared with visitors to the region.
“The gorge is being featured in a new television advertisement which is showcasing to the world one of our most stunning local attractions. The advert started airing on Australia Day and will be broadcast during the remainder of the international cricket and tennis tournaments.”
The Minister for Tourism and International Education, Senator Richard Colbeck, said there was a wonderful diversity of aquatic and coastal experiences in Australia.
“This new aquatic and coastal campaign will help to attract visitors and drive spending right across the country,” Senator Colbeck said.
“Presently 70 per cent of our international visitors enjoy an aquatic and coastal experience during their trip so we are building on one of our great strengths and reflecting the Government’s move to more targeted international tourism marketing.”
