Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion, today welcomed $2.6 million in funding for communities in the Northern Territory to enhance their resilience to natural disasters.
Senator Scullion said the funding would be made available to eligible organisations as part of the Coalition Government’s $52 million national partnership agreement on natural disaster resilience.
“The Government is focused on boosting the resilience of communities so that they are better prepared for future disaster events,” Senator Scullion said.
“Grants will be available to support local projects that help to prevent the occurrence of natural disasters and I encourage eligible organisations to apply.
“By working together to improve disaster resilience we will contribute to safer and more sustainable communities across the Territory.”
Applications for programmes funded under the national partnership agreement are now open and will close midnight Sunday, 8 January 2016. Programmes include:
- Disaster Resilience Fund (DRF)
- Disaster Resilience Emergency Volunteer Fund (DREVF)
- Territory Risk Priority Project Fund (TRPPF)
