Joint Media Release with Member for Parkes Mark Coulton MP
A new change room will be built and additional lighting installed to increase safety levels at Boggabilla Oval, thanks to a $236,000 grant from the Coalition Government.
The Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Nigel Scullion, and the Member for Parkes, Mark Coulton, announced the grant to Moree Plains Shire Council during a visit to Boggabilla yesterday.
Minister Scullion said it was important to tailor such grants to the needs of the local community.
“This grant is a great example of the Coalition Government doing things in partnership with a local community and I acknowledge the efforts of Mark Coulton in pushing hard for this investment in his electorate of Parkes,” Minister Scullion said.
“The Boggabilla community has identified the need for more shared community spaces to build cohesion and promote wellbeing. We have listened and responded with this funding that will greatly improve this facility, enabling Boggabilla residents to fully utilise the oval as a social and community hub.”
Mr Coulton said that all levels of government were working with the local community to determine how to make the most out of shared community facilities.
“The oval is a popular site for rugby league and other sports. This upgrade will now allow the grounds to be used for community and regional sporting activities,” Mr Coulton said.
“I am confident this project will significantly increase the oval’s usage, in turn contributing to a greater sense of wellbeing within the local community, and look forward to visiting again to see the mighty Boggabilla Warriors in action next season.”
