Joint Media Release with Country Liberals Candidate for Lingiari Jacinta Nampijinpa Price
Students at two Alice Springs schools will benefit from new facilities thanks to CLP funding, Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion and CLP Candidate for Lingiari, Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, announced today.
Senator Scullion said the Coalition Government would provide $100,511 towards new classrooms at the Alice Springs Steiner School through the Capital Grants Program.
“These upgrades will help advance The Alice Springs Steiner School and ensure students have modern classrooms facilities and help achieve the best educational outcomes so they can have a bright future full of opportunity.
“Students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities – that’s why the Federal Coalition Government is proud of the Capital Grants Program, which has benefited thousands of schools across the nation,” Senator Scullion said.
Alice Springs Steiner School Principal Bruce Thurgood said this grant would allow for the further development and expansion of the new Steiner High School.
“Our school parents really appreciate the Federal Government support for our new classrooms. Thank you!!”
Ms Price said an investment of $59,800 for Yirara College would go towards a new hot water system.
“These upgrades will help ensure Yirara College classrooms have modern facilities.
“I congratulate both Yirara College and The Alice Springs Steiner School for their successful grants and look forward to seeing the impact these improvements will have in the Alice Springs community.
“The Coalition has committed $660 million until 2021 for the Capital Grants Program, which provides funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure.”
