Joint Media Release with Minister for The Arts Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield
The Turnbull Government has announced the appointment of a new administrator for Regional Arts Fund in the Northern Territory.
Minister for the Arts, Senator Mitch Fifield, said he was pleased to welcome Darwin Community Arts as Regional Program Administrator from 1 July 2018 (today).
“The Regional Arts Fund is highly valued throughout Australia and this organisation will ensure it continues to be delivered effectively in the Northern Territory,” Minister Fifield said.
Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion, said he was pleased that a Territory organisation with a proven track record had been selected to deliver this funding.
“The Northern Territory is a diverse part of Australia, with probably more artists per capita than any other state or territory. The Regional Arts Fund directly supports arts and culture initiatives and promotes sustainable economic and cultural development in regional and remote communities.”
Each year the Government provides around $3.4 million through the Regional Arts Fund, which is delivered by Regional Arts Australia through organisations in each state and territory.
The Regional Arts Fund is available through a mix of quick response and community grants for arts projects, professional development for artists and arts workers and community building projects. The program also provides funding for strategic projects that address a particular need in regional areas.
