Joint media release with Minister for Local Government and Territories, Fiona Nash
Northern Territory local governments are being invited to nominate innovative projects for recognition under the Coalition Government’s 2017 National Awards for Local Government (NALG).
Minister for Local Government and Territories, Fiona Nash, said the awards recognised innovative projects which provided new or improved local government services.
“Through these awards the Government celebrates the ‘best of the best’ local government projects which range from infrastructure and regional growth to art,” Minister Nash said.
Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion, said councils interested in nominating their projects had until Friday, 3 March, to do so.
“That gives councils across the Northern Territory five weeks to nominate any projects they believe align with the NALG’s judging criteria,” Senator Scullion said.
“Councils have the opportunity to nominate projects under a wide range of categories including those that boost productivity through infrastructure or contribute to regional growth.”
Category winners will be announced in mid-April and the national winner will be announced at the Australian Local Government Association National General Assembly dinner in June.
Information about the awards – including how to submit an entry – is available at: www.infrastructure.gov.au/nalg.
