Territorians with a disability will receive more support in their search for a job through increased Coalition Government funding.
Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion, said more money was being provided to new and existing Disability Employment Service (DES) providers from 1 July.
“DES providers in the Northern Territory will help connect people with disability to the right job for them, and support local businesses and organisations to find talented candidates,” Senator Scullion said.
“Territorians with disability in our community will now have more choice of provider and more say in the supports they receive.
“Work provides security and independence. It also expands our social networks, gives us a sense of responsibility and self-worth, and enables us to contribute more fully to society.
“The Coalition Government is committed to improving employment outcomes for people with disability.”
Senator Scullion said there would be 7 DES providers in the Northern Territory. MAX Solutions and Serendipity Pty Ltd will offer services in Darwin/Palmerston and Alice Springs. Darwin Skills Development Scheme Incorporated, Mission Australia, Rehab Management, and WISE Employment Ltd are other providers for Darwin and Palmerston only while STEPS Group Australia will only provide services in Alice Springs.
The Coalition Government will invest more than $3 billion in DES over the next four years.
