Desperate Labor Resorts to Making Things up In Search of Good News
In total desperation the Gillard Labor government is now resorting to making things up just so that they may have a good story to tell, said Senator Scullion today.
Minister Macklin today claimed that the report released by the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, ORIC, entitled strong corporations, strong stores, strong communities revealed that more money was being spent on healthy food in Indigenous community-owned stores.
“Unfortunately for the Minister, the ORIC report contained not a single reference to the amount of healthy food being sold in community stores, said Senator Scullion.
“The ORIC report was a financial analysis of stores registered under the act.
“It looked at the reporting compliance, profitability, growth, and liquidity of the stores. In fact the entire report was about financial and compliance issues.
“I had to read the ministers media release twice just to make sure that it was about the same ORIC report and not some other review that really was about the amount of healthy food being bought and consumed in Indigenous communities.
“To resort to making something up just to be able to put out a good news media release demonstrates how desperate the Gillard Labor government has become, said Senator Scullion.
“Just because everything Labor touches turns to custard does not give them the right to start making up stories.
“Increasing the amount of healthy food purchased and consumed in remote communities is an outcome we must achieve for the health and welfare of Indigenous Australians.
“Any reported improvements must be supported by sound research and facts, not wishful thinking and fanciful dreams of the minister, said Senator Scullion.
