Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion, is reminding all Territorians to consider their role in protecting children during 2018 National Child Protection week from 2-8 September.
Senator Scullion said National Child Protection Week is everyone’s business and it is critical for the whole community to work together to keep children safe.
“By working together, we can provide positive role models and safer environments for our children, and help to protect our children from harm,” Senator Scullion said.
“We all have a part to play in protecting all children and even small actions can help to improve a child’s future.
“This week, organisations, community groups and schools will be holding events across the Territory to mark National Child Protection Week. Tonight there is a forum on child protection at the Mercure Alice Springs Resort.”
“I encourage Territorials to participate in National Child Protection Week 2018 and to build a child friendly Australia – one community at a time.”
The Australia Government is committed to preventing child abuse and neglect, and continues to work in partnership with state and territory governments and the community to address this national issue.
“The National Redress Scheme, the establishment of the National Office for Child Safety, and the collaborative work with the Northern Territory Government on policy and programs for young people in the youth justice and child protection systems are just a few examples of our continuing commitment.”
