The Coalition Government in strengthening the incentives available to Territory businesses under the jobactive PaTH Programme to encourage them to take on additional staff.
Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion, welcomed the changes, saying they would help local businesses to hire young people across the Territory.
“The Government’s new jobactive PaTH Programme will be fully rolled out in April and help up to 120,000 vulnerable young Australians through pre-employment training, internships and new wage subsidies,” Senator Scullion said.
“Financial incentives of up to $10,000 are available to encourage businesses to employ new staff. This will help our local economy and in turn, create more jobs.
“Getting people into work is one of the Government’s highest priorities. This means not only growing our economy, but helping people to become ‘job ready’.
“I’m delighted to see these incentives are being improved to support more local employers to hire more workers.
“Our jobactive PaTH Programme is all about getting young people ready, giving them a go and getting them a job.
“I strongly encourage local business owners to take advantage of this programme, including the new wage subsidies, to take on extra staff and grow their businesses.”
