Coalition welcomes Indigenous broadcasting review
The Coalition welcomes today’s announcement of a review into the Government’s investment in the Indigenous broadcasting and media sector.
The Coalition recognises the important role the Indigenous broadcasting sector plays in providing programming that is particularly relevant to Indigenous Australians.
The Howard Government established National Indigenous Television (NITV) in 2007 to help provide all Australians with the opportunity to see and hear Indigenous stories.
We hope the Gillard Government continues to support this important media platform.
The Coalition will pay close attention to the findings of the review and if elected will consult with the industry to develop future funding arrangements.
