Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory, Nigel Scullion, has paid tribute to William “Billy” Hayes of the pioneering Hayes pastoralist family, who died on Tuesday in a light plane crash.
Senator Scullion said Mr Hayes was regarded as one of the Northern Territory’s finest cattlemen.
“Mr Hayes was a fifth generation Territorian and well-respected and loved member of the Central Australian cattle industry,” Senator Scullion said.
“The Hayes family has owned Deep Well Station south-east of Alice Springs for many years and Mr Hayes dedicated his life to working the property.”
Senator Scullion extended his deepest condolences to Mr Hayes’ family at this difficult time.
