Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Nigel Scullion, has paid tribute to the work conducted by the Chair of Indigenous Business Australia (IBA), Dr Dawn Casey, whose five-year term ends on 28 June 2014.
“Dr Casey has made a significant contribution to improving the lives of Indigenous Australians through the Indigenous Home Ownership Programme which is administered by IBA,” Minister Scullion said.
“Under Dr Casey’s leadership, the IBA’s Strategic Economic Development Initiative has assisted many Indigenous entrepreneurs to create sustainable employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians.”
A process is under way to appoint a new IBA Chair. IBA’s Deputy Chair, Anthony Ashby, will fill the position on an interim basis.
Minister Scullion said the Government would continue to work with Dr Casey in her capacity as the Chair of the Indigenous Land Corporation.
“Dr Casey has demonstrated her strong commitment to improving the lives of Indigenous Australians and I would like to thank her for the dedication she exhibited as Chair of the IBA,” Minister Scullion said.
