Kevin Rudd’s plan for Northern Australia is nothing more than a thought bubble that won’t happen, Country Liberals Senator for the Northern Territory Nigel Scullion and candidate for Lingiari Tina MacFarlane said.
“The fact is Labor never deliver what they promise. At the last election, they promised there would no carbon tax and I think this is a promise like that,” Senator Scullion said.
“This is typical Rudd policy on the run with no details and no costings that you can’t trust Labor to deliver.”
“The Coalition policy was released months ago showing it is a priority and Rudd is trying to play catch-up.
Mrs MacFarlane said the Assistant Treasurer is against Rudd’s idea to develop the North.
“Earlier this year David Bradbury bagged plans to develop Northern Australia by calling it wacky and hysterically saying there would be ‘gold-plated footpaths in Karratha.’
“Those comments show what Labor really think of the North, which is why Labor member for Lingiari Warren Snowdon has failed to deliver for Lingiari for so many years.
“The Coalition released its 2030 Vision for Developing Northern Australia with a White Paper, produced within 12 months, to create a comprehensive, well thought out pathway for the North that unlocks the full potential of our region,” Mrs MacFarlane said.
