Indigenous students at Kintore will be assisted to attend school through funding for a School Nutrition Programme, Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Nigel Scullion announced.
Minister Scullion said $285,000 over 3 years has been made available through the Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) grant round to Pintupi Homelands Health Service Aboriginal Corporation to run the School Nutrition Programme.
“Pintupi Homelands Health Service Aboriginal Corporation will provide a School Nutrition Project for school age children attending Walungurru (Kintore) School with breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea five days a week during school days,” Minister Scullion said.
“These nutrition programmes put children in a good position for daily engagement in their ongoing learning as we know kids with full stomachs can concentrate better during class.
“This project helps drive one of the Government’s key priorities of getting children to school,” Minister Scullion said.
