All Australians should visit the Gab Titui Cultural Centre on Thursday Island, Shadow Indigenous Affairs Minister Senator Nigel Scullion said at the re-opening yesterday.
“The Gab Titui Cultural Centre is a wonderful facility that will become a tourism precinct with cultural and economic benefits,” Senator Scullion said.
“The re-opening was a tremendous occasion with a welcome to country by Milton Savage from the Kaurareg people, the traditional owners of Thursday Island, to Torres Strait Islanders in the spirit of friendship.
“The entertainment including traditional dancers was exhilarating.
“I congratulate Torres Strait Regional Authority chairperson Joseph Elu and all those involved in the creation of this centre.
“I encourage all Australians to visit Gab Titui Cultural Centre and enjoy Thursday Island and the Torres Strait’s vibrant art and culture,” Senator Scullion said.
